After performing in Coffeyville in early 1898, the California Concert Company along with Houdini & his wife Bess would travel via the Missouri Pacific Railroad to Chetopa. While it was rumored that this was the last stop for the company, they did keep going after spending two days entertaining at the Chetopa Opera House. I am not sure where the company stayed but the National Hotel and Chetopa Hotel are likely locations. Any information or photos would be invaluable to my research and credited in the book.
